Give me an A pretty please

I just came across this memo I worte to one of my Professors right before my final exam...think he gave me an A. Enjoy...

To: Professor Rosegg
From: Mark

Date: 04/25/03
Subject: Persuasive Memo- Why Mark deserves an “A”

Let me first express my gratitude for your guidance in the BUS 309 class. Not only has your class been enriching, it had broaden my writing skills. With your sharing of your industry experience and humor, I have no doubt gained much insight into writing better letters, soliciting for better wages and potentially getting a more satisfying job as a whole in the near future. Without a doubt, I, along with many students in your class, will gain from your teaching in time to come.

Flattery will probably not land me an “A” in this case. However, I have a list of many great reasons as to why I should deserve one for your class. Of course, the final outcome would solely depend on your impartial and gracious decision. With that in mind, I fully trust you would be. The first good reason as to why I ought to get an “A” is on the basis of my timeliness in handing up assignments. You may have noticed that I have been extremely consistent and diligent in fulfilling datelines that were set. As much as possible, I do try my very best to hand in assignments within 2-3 days after it has been assigned. In the business world, this I believe, is very important. Therefore, I see the need to gear myself up for this very purpose. Timeliness is one factor, along with that comes my ability to fulfill my work with the utmost quality. Past experience in the hospitality industry has built up my acute eye for details. You will see that my work displays minimal grammar mistakes, and the content is both rich and pleasing to read. I will accept no less than an “A” should you judge it by literary content. I suppose you must have enjoyed reading it as I have yet to receive any secondary emails that request corrections. Thirdly, you may notice I position myself right in the front of the class. This is solely because I want to give full attention to every word you say. I fully empathize with teachers who teach “dry” subjects, have students dozing off in class which can be a tad discouraging. The list of reasons goes on and on, and I can assure you I would be more than willing to produce more should you request it. However, considering the busy schedule from your good work at HECO, I will pause till I receive the go-ahead from you. Nevertheless, you can already conclude that I am absolutely worthy of a good grade. Please feel free to “sign on the dotted line.”

Once again, I thoroughly enjoyed the class. There was a good balance of group work, class interaction and interesting power-point slides with sound effects. Learning was conducive in the environment that you had created, and I honestly gain much from the course. All in all, I can see no further improvements that may be made to this existing informative class. Your guidance and teaching will be remembered for a lifetime. Finally, I seek your generosity in your grading decision. Mahalo loa nui and Aloha.
