What I love about my job

I decided to post something positive about my work. Partly because I need to remind myself why the hell I still do what I do, also because I want to weigh out the pros against the cons(which I think is 4 pages of blog space worth).

1st on my list: Location: It helps a whole lot when you only have to 'commute' by foot 5minutes away from home. In additon, who would not envy my 'office' which has the view of Diamond Head crater, and a pebble throw away from the Pacific Ocean. There's something about looking out into the Ocean that calms me down tremendously even when I'm super pissed off.

2nd: The people I work with: In general, I have a great crew whom I work with, apart from a selected few who deserved to be fired back in 1982...(The F#$%ing JOYS OF PROGRESSIVE DISCIPLINE as per union contract)

3rd: Building Relationships: I've met and made friends out of many guests who come. It's satisfying when they return and actually ask for you or if you took a vacation to Arizona, you could stay at their mansion for free...

4th:.....Hmm...

Shit...I'm stumped after the third one...maybe I'll ask for a raise to increase the number of bullets on my list...yea riiiiiiiiiiight...

The Whole week had been filled with Training and Management classes... some real dry and others quite entertaining. At least the Hotel is investing in the employees and taking the effort to roll out some pretty customised training sessions...so that's a big plus. Oh...and I learnt a new word today.

Kinesthetics

Picture a chef cutting an onion effortlessly...or a housekeeper shampooing the carpets with their eyes closed(yea...i've seen it done during graveyard)

Point is we can't assume that people around us have the ability to do what we do as if it's like our second nature...After all, I can't expect Poopie to cook like I do, so....

Oh Oh...I see a major "I'm not cooking strike" coming....

Belated Birthday wishes...

As usual I would forget everybody elses' birthdays, but better late than never right?

So...Happy 40th Birthday SGP!!! I'm pretty proud of what we had accomplished for the last 40 years and I know there's many more good things to come...i.e. the casino, reservist ICT cut down to 10 years recently....(WooHoo)

On the flipside however, was watching the delayed delayed telecast of the NDP parade on the web, and it came to realisation that it resembled a celebration for Kim Jung Il...Sure, it was terrific to get the whole island involved, namely Yishun, Marina and Jurong East? How United we appeared to the rest of the world! But what we with that red and white garb and the explosion of obiang costumes, and that para-para style cheographed step dancing...(what the heck was that!!!)it all too seem like North Koreaish...Then again, there's a whole faction of us PROGRAMMED SGPeans that seem to take it in stride and enjoy it.

eeep...so nevermind what I said about the obiangness of the whole festivities, or our lame merlion, or our one too many 'stand up for sgp' propaganda tunes, or our brand of English which only we can understand....

Independence and Freedom(somewhat)is great...we are so bloody unique and I'm proud of it....and let's party because it's a freakin public holiday(back in SGP at least)....

Since mom is readin this as well...Much thanks for the buah keluak and the rempah...I just cooked it the other day(almost forgot how long it was in the freezer)...but that was DAMN shiok. Poopie ate it also....she oso think it's damn shiok. Had that together with some belachan kangkong....wah lau ay...better stop lah my mouth start to water liao. cannot tahan...

Sweet Tight Pussy

By Golly, it's August already...where did time run off to?

Things have been pretty smooth lately(I'm refering to work)...All in all, it's been a busy month and from what I noticed of late, we're gradually easing into a slower period. That's great coz it gives us all a much needed break, and time for me also to catch up on other management stuff...(Retraining which we badly need...performance appraisals...etc. the list goes on...)

Anyway...I had a lovely SWEET TIGHT PUSSY today. Slurp...

Deliciously green...fruity aromas...with a peachy aftertaste at the end. Yeah...It's a freakin' cocktail for heaven's sakes...what were you guys thinking!!! Although I wouldn't mi...(urrmm...let's not even go there)

1/2 oz Midori melon
1/2 oz peach schnapps
1/2 oz 7-up
Float 1oz Absolut Citron if you want that extra kick
