Goreng Goreng Sedap

Finally got off my lazy streak at cooking yesterday to come up with this good but simple combo...

First off I had KaiLan with fried Anchovies, simply stir fried to perfection. Think I was too greedy and used too much Anchovies...either that or I'm just trying to clear off whatever I had in the pantry. Very simple and scrumptous...

Next up is Nasi Goreng Pedas...A nice hint of spice with squid, shrimp and tomatoes. I had some Hawaiian Chilli and belachan and a pack of Nasi Goreng Spice to flavor it all up. Poops ate 2 portions so I assumed it was THAT GOOD. Think the secret to Fried Rice is to fry it dry with bits of charred rice to give it that added texture.

Towards more self-enrichment

A few blogs ago...I've mentioned that one of my goals for this year is to enrich myself by expanding my kowledge through books...well...I've been keepign up meticulously and even bought more. That's also because I had a hard time trying to spend a US $30 Ala Moana Gift card. (Thanks Bryan+Paul, you guys are sweet) Yea...still hate shopping, maybe because I've not much desire for material possessions in my life or then again, nothing's broken so I don't have to buy anything to replace it?

Anyway...I thought these 2 were a good buy...one's by Tony Bourdain, typical sacarstic little bastard from New York, works as the exec.Chef in Les Halles in NY. Enjoying every bit of it cuz we share the same dark humor and dark secrets in the restaurant buisness. People working in this industry can all relate to his book I think...good stuff.

Next up is a book by an ex-druggie...been out and in rehab..haven't started reading it but reviews says it's a good read. Also, appeared on Oprah's Book CLub...How gay eh? But if Oprah says it's good, hell I'm gonna read it too.

Resolutions Resolutions....

My 1st New Year resolution for 2006 would be to educate and enrich myself by reading more books. My target is set at 30 books this year, and currently reading this one above...Very good read. Talks about the global forces that are making our world smaller and what's in store for the future ahead.(if we don't get wiped out to oblivion by an asteroid)...Oh yea Dad- will pass you this book with your DaVinci Code as well...

Strange as it seems but I never used to like reading books. The thickness puts me off. I finally feel like I'm evolving from a neanderthal to a thinking human being now...Go figure...

Maybe I'm just getting old eh...Shit

PSP- epitome of COOL

Poops gave me a PSP for Xmas-The Sony Playstation Portable...

I must say it is the coolest gizmo ever....Handheld games have came a long way since eh...I remembered the last one I had, a nintendo handheld 20 years ago. I think it was Popeye saving his spinach or something like that(thanks to AhKong once again).

It's astounding to see what technology had brought the last 20 years...Now I'm just waiting for the PS3 to debut, put that together with a nice size HDTV and I'll be the happiest kid on the block...

The Year of the Dog...

The start of the Year of the Dog saw me working like the dog...picture those Arctic breeds that are pulling the sleds on and on...exactly how I felt like ushering myself into the new year. Woof.

But anyways, since my 2 week absense from blogging cyberspace, here's wishing all of you out there a Happy 2006 and...of yah...Merry Christmas.

With tourist arrivals at a record high in Hawai'i, it is needless to say that all hotel workers have been working their butts off. And I hope your bosses had at least the decency to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I know mine didn't...All I got was a freakin Manapua(or better known as Cha Siew Pau) for my efforts. Yea..I'm kinda feeling sour over the whole holiday season...Since it's already the beginning of the New Year, I shall resist ranting over it...Let it go Mark...let it go...

Waking up into the New Year and looking into the mirror that morning, I came to a stark realisation(toothbrush in mouth), that I'm starting to look more like my Dad...a weird thought to have in the morning but at least now I know I wasn't pick up from some trash can as Mom would always tell me....I guess it's kinda cool to look like my Dad???hmmm...even better that he still has a full head of hair so I'm pretty sure I'm not going bald anythime soon.(hohoho)

According to what I've read and Dad's visit to some temple(as per conversation with Mom) the doggie year 2006 is going to be a darn good year for moi. I sure hope so....
