mom's chicken soup

I was going to take pcitures of what my culinary endeavours on my digital camera, but I forgot...and it's already in mine and Poopie's tummy.

But, without the help of visual aids...I cooked Mom's Black Chicken Soup(like mom says it's for POWER)..dunno whether true or not but tasted power anyways...I bought 1 black chicken in chinatown(increase price by the way...like gas price)

I simmered it au naturale together with some wolfberries(or keh chee), some woody looking herb which I have no idea whatchamacall...and of course dry abalone and dry scallops...6-7 hours under 200Degree oven later...Voila...Black Chicken Soup like Mom makes...So, I've decided to officially call it Mom's Chicken soup.

With that, I also whipped up a batch of baby bak choy with anchovies, garlic and spicy dried shrimp....and finally, roast pork and succulent char siu on the side(also increase price btw)

As we say in SGP, damn shiok...either that or long time never eat home cook food.

Waikiki after dark

If you thought walking down the stretch of Kalakaua Ave.(better known as Waikiki for those out of town and reading) was interesting...You ain't seen nothing yet till past midnight. You probably think nothing else happens after all the shops and stuff closes, you should tag along when I'm walking home from work 5 times a week at 130-200AM in the wee mornings.

While home from the hotel is only less than 10 mins, there are much sights and sounds to fully 'appreciate' at that hour. Here's a short list of them:

1) Walkout out via poolside entrance and find threesome going on...(and I don't think they're playing doctor-doctor)
2)Walking down Kalakaua Ave, some black guy playing the flute...(brah, waikiki no mo'peeple tis hour)
3)Walking past DFS(Duty Free), 3 guys showing off breakdancing moves(to who I wonder...)
4)Breakdancing groupies are in close vicinity...(dakine with HUGE flower in hair and daikon legs)
5)Past Moose's, get couple drunk Marines shouting at top of their lungs because they think they gung-ho
6)Past GS studio...get some Nihon-jins, all not walking straight but still bowing goodbye to friends 2 blocks away...
7) WAit for Kuhio traffic light to turn green, see the same usual guy carryign one trashbag and flashlight. Rummaging thru the trash to look for gold?(maybe)
8)Walking towards home, always see these 3 Mahu(or trannies, lady-boys, ah-qua) selling their wares....One day I'll ask how much becasue I curious...(don't get the wrong idea)
9)Also, always this one guy in wheelchair and ask the time, and then ask for money to get home to Kailua with sob story.(He tried that on me 3 times already...the bugger)
9)Almost home, see some micronesians smoking weed in their truck...
10)Finally home, saw security guard all decked out on sofa and having sweet dreams...

Phew...! too much action...

Let me know if you want a Hawaiian After Dark Adventure Tour...

Achtung!

Just got news yesterday that the hotel had hired a new GM. It's anybodys' guess what new changes will come with the arrival of someone new...I just hope he or she ain't from Germany(I think GMs produced in Germany suck big time, they should stick to producing Mercs and BMWs, I've worked under quite a few whom left a bad taste in da mouth). I still have yet to figure out why so many hotel GMs are from there, anyone who knows do drop me a comment.

Just read in the news some 17 year old bugger got caught and fined for putting racist remarks in his blog...Wah lan eh...We got the Internet blog police back home or what?? I oso want that kine job where can sit on my kah cheng all day and surf internet. Aiyah, that boy also kinda bodoh lah...For nothing go write bad thing about other people, JUST KEEP IT TO YOURSELF LAH??? You lucky you live in a diverse country, otherwise where got Mee Rebus, Nasi Lemak, Roti Prata, Papadum and the list goes on...

(just practising my Singlish btw...I feel like I losing it sometime)

long time no talk cock...

It's been ages since the last update and for good reason too...

Been at work ealier than the usual early because we had to major groups in-house amounting to 3000 people. One of them were the USC peeps, not only did they whip our asses at Aloha Stadium, but most of them were a plain rude bunch of alumnis and USC fans. Must be a trait brought on by having a school in the ghetto areas. Sure, they had $$$ to spend and we did a extremely crazy amount of buisness but you ask yourself at what cost? Complaints were abundant as a result of poor planning from the conventions peeps, my bar which wasn't built for high volume suffered from the spillover. Not excluding overtime from the extra staffing, operation breakdowns and most importantly very tired workers...and need I mention one freakin' tired manager...

Phew...glad those mainlanders went home already... On the brighter note, the wahines won in volleyball! GO WAHINES!

More rants coming up throughtout my 2 days off, in the meantime I'm gonna take a nice swim in my pool and chill out.

Oh yea...mom call me(it's been a while)
